2 gas chamber bills were filed on June 9th, 2011! SB 423 and SB 424 will prevent gassing of shelter cats and dogs by shelters and Class B dealers. Check out “Grant’s Bills”  to learn more about what you can do to help make positive changes for Michigans shelter dogs & cats!

The picture to the left is a picture of Grant. Grant was gassed at St. Joseph County Animal Control right here in Michigan. Volunteers were working to to help Grant find a new home, but unfortunately a home was not found in time.

UNITED WE STAND!

We are pleased to announce our February spay/neuter specials! We encourage people to spay/neuter their pets before 5 months of age. We have one surgery date available for these prices on February 8th, 2011.  For that date in February, we will be providing the following:

• Male dogs and cats 5 months and UNDER, will be $15
• Female dogs and cats 5 months and UNDER, will be $25
• Pit Bull and Pit Bull mixes 5 months and UNDER will be FREE (that’s right….FREE!)

Fact: Spaying your female dog before her first heat will reduce her risk of Mammary cancer (the most common malignant tumors) by 99.5%
Fact: Most pet owners are concerned about vaccines, but cat and dog mammary cancer is almost entirely preventable IF the dog/cat is spayed EARLY.

This book is a MUST READ for any person that advocates for animals (specifically shelter animals)  and wants to learn more about pound seizure. Right now H.B. 4663 (Koda’s law – banning the B dealer/research middle man) and H.B. 6042/6043 (to stop Michigan shelters from gassing) are in the Senate Agriculture committee.  Senator VanWoerkom is the chair and the ONE person holding this bill up.
